We didn't refresh a logo.
We gave the brand a Kru.

How The Brand Bee rebuilt Just Bumm - a reusable cloth-diaper brand for babies - from a plain wordmark into a warm, mascot-led identity, with packaging and a storefront to match.

The Brand

A genuinely good product, in a forgettable wrapper.

Just Bumm makes reusable cloth diapers, langots and muslin essentials for babies - GOTS-certified organic cotton, rash-free, and built to be washed hundreds of times. The product had already earned real trust with Indian parents.

The brand around it hadn't kept up. A plain "Just Bumm" wordmark did the naming job and little else - no warmth, no character, nothing a tired new parent would remember or feel.

The Challenge

Baby care runs on trust and warmth.

Parents choose what touches a newborn's skin with their guard up. In a category full of clinical claims and lookalike labels, a brand has to feel safe, gentle and human before a parent will even read the spec sheet.

The product was ready. The brand had to earn the feeling.

A

No character

A wordmark with nothing to hold on to - forgettable on a shelf and in a feed.

B

No warmth

A soft, emotional category being sold with a hard, generic look.

C

No system

Product, packaging and site each doing their own thing, with nothing tying them together.

The Identity

So we gave the brand a face. Kru.

We built the rebrand around a mascot - Kru, a soft, friendly character who becomes the face of Just Bumm and the name of its parent community. The logo went from a flat wordmark to a warm, ownable mark with Kru at its heart, set in a gentle organic-cotton palette.

Before
After
Before & after - the identity, rebuilt around Kru

Kru gave the brand a personality to carry everywhere - playful product names and prints like Owlsome, Dinorawr and Tawny Scrawny, a warmer tone of voice, and a community parents can actually belong to: the Kru.

Concept note

Why Kru, and why this look.

The old logo named the brand. The new one gives it a personality. Kru is a soft, rounded little character - the kind a baby would reach for - drawn in gentle, continuous strokes so it stays warm and legible at any size, from a favicon to an embroidered tag. The mark folds the character and the wordmark into one unit, so the brand shows up as a friend, not a label.

That was the point of the whole rebrand. Just Bumm set out to be the warm, honest, parent-first name in a category full of clinical claims - built on organic cotton, real transparency, and a community of parents at its centre, the Kru. Kru is that positioning made visible: a companion for new parents rather than a spec sheet on a shelf.

Sage green leads - calm, natural, organic-cotton soft. A pastel family of lilac and blush carries the playful product prints, cream keeps everything gentle, and ink does the heavy lifting where clarity matters. It reads as safe-for-baby before a word is.

Typography

A rounded, humanist wordmark with soft terminals replaces the old hard, geometric one - friendlier, and easier to trust. Headlines stay in that warm, rounded family; body copy sits in a clean, highly legible sans so care instructions and claims read clearly for a parent scanning fast.

The Work

One brand, across every touchpoint.

The new identity had to live where parents actually meet the brand - the box on the doorstep, the print on the product, and the storefront they buy from.

The Outcome

A label became a brand.

Just Bumm went from a name on a pack to a character parents recognise. Kru now anchors the logo, the packaging, the product prints and the community - one warm, consistent world instead of three disconnected ones.

The trust the product had already earned finally has a brand to match it - GOTS-certified, CPSIA-tested, and recognised along the way with an IAA award and a YourStory 500 Challenger Brand nod.

Net effect

A generic wordmark became a mascot-led brand system - warmer, more distinctive, and consistent from logo to packaging to storefront.
